From first encounter to professional certification.
Logosynthesis® certification is the official credential issued by the LIA — the Logosynthesis International Association — to professionals who have completed the full Practitioner curriculum. This page sets out the pathway, the Practitioner requirements in full, and where to begin your formation.
The Logosynthesis® certification pathway:
three levels, one progression.
The LIA certification pathway is structured as a formation arc. Each level builds on the previous one and is independently assessed by LIA. For full requirements at each level beyond Practitioner, refer to logosynthesis.international.
Practitioner in Logosynthesis®
Core clinical formation. Qualifies professionals to use Logosynthesis® in practice and to apply for LIA professional membership. This is the level Andes Institute's programmes are designed to support.

Trainer in Logosynthesis®
Authorised to deliver the official Logosynthesis® Basic Seminar and the full Practitioner curriculum. Governed by the separate LIA Trainer Manual.
Logosynthesis® Practitioner certification:
what it requires.
Practitioner certification marks the completion of a rigorous formation — not just attendance at a seminar, but a demonstrated capacity to apply Logosynthesis® in professional practice.
Who can attend
The Practitioner curriculum is open to professionals from consulting, teaching, medical, and therapeutic fields who have completed professional training in at least one of the following areas:
- Counselling or coaching
- Adult education or pedagogy
- Theology
- Medicine
- Psychotherapy or psychology
Professionals from other fields may also be admitted with at least 25 days or 150 hours of practical experience leading conversations, building relationships, and accompanying people in groups or seminars.
All candidates must be willing to engage in an intensive process of personal development and reflection as part of their formation. If you are uncertain whether your background qualifies, contact your trainer or the LIA office directly before beginning.
Course structure
The Practitioner curriculum is organised by LIA and delivered by authorised trainers. It includes a total of 15 seminar days, 2 supervision units, and a written thesis:
The mandatory entry point. 18 hours (3 seminar days).
54 hours total (3 × 18 hours). The four path seminars are: The Path of Courage, The Path of Trust, The Path of the Will, and The Path of Presence. Candidates choose three. The fourth can be attended after certification and is the starting point of the Master Practitioner programme.
18 hours (3 seminar days). The LIA international conference may be credited in place of this seminar — it comprises 30 hours over 5 days onsite.
12 hours total. Each unit is either a group supervision day (6 hours) or 90 minutes of individual supervision split across one or more sessions.
Minimum one hour with an expert from the LIA's approved list. This supervision is specifically for preparing the Practitioner thesis.
A group of at least 3 participants meeting at least 4 times a year. Minimum 9 hours for Practitioner certification.
At least 30 hours of applying Logosynthesis® within a professional context during the training period.
A paper of 5,000–6,000 words, submitted as a PDF. Assessed by LIA-appointed experts.
In total, the onsite Practitioner curriculum comprises approximately 111 contact hours, plus thesis supervision and practice group time. Candidates are expected to have read the Logosynthesis literature before beginning — including the Self-Coaching book, the Logosynthesis Handbook, or Discover Logosynthesis.
Attendance of 100% is generally required for a seminar to be confirmed as attended. This applies to all components of the Practitioner curriculum. Please check with your trainer if you have questions about a specific seminar.
Regulations for the
Practitioner thesis.
The following requirements are drawn directly from the LIA Certification Manual. All definitive and current information is held by LIA at logosynthesis.international.
In the written paper, candidates describe their professional background and personal development with Logosynthesis and answer the question: How and when have I worked with Logosynthesis with a client? The candidate must reflect on this paper under the supervision of an expert.
- Scope: 5,000–6,000 words. Word count must be stated in the paper.
- Format: submitted as a PDF file.
- Assessment: carried out by experts appointed by the LIA certification committee.
Who am I?
Describe your professional context and what brought you to Logosynthesis — and how it sits in relation to everything you have learned before.

- Similarities with and differences from other models in your training

How the Logosynthesis® certification
procedure works.

Assessment fee
The thesis assessment fee, including the certificate, is set by LIA and is paid at the time of submission. For current fees and payment procedures, visit logosynthesis.international.
Submission
The Practitioner thesis and all required seminar certificates — together with proof of fee payment — are submitted to LIA in digital form. The candidate receives written feedback on the thesis content by email from the assessing expert.
Decision and certification
The experts decide on granting the Practitioner in Logosynthesis® title after the candidate has completed all required seminars and supervisions and passed the Practitioner thesis.
LIA professional membership
Certification automatically entitles the holder to LIA professional membership — including listing your practice on the LIA professionals directory at logosynthesis.international/professionals.
After certification
Continuous training is recommended. LIA lists the full range of continuing education options — including practice groups, supervision days, conferences, Master Classes, and the Master Practitioner pathway — at logosynthesis.international.
The Practitioner pathway is for working clinicians
ready to add precision.
The Practitioner curriculum is built for professionals already in active practice who want a model that works at a level their current approach does not fully reach. It is not an entry qualification. It is an advanced formation for experienced practitioners.
This pathway is for you if:
- You are in active practice as a therapist, counsellor, coach, psychologist, or adult educator.
- You have clients whose patterns don't shift despite insight, regulation skills, or careful relational work.
- You want a theoretically rigorous model with a clear LIA certification structure and international recognition.
- You hold CPD requirements with BACP, UKCP, or a comparable professional body and want formation that counts.
This is not for you if:
- You are seeking a first qualification in therapy, counselling, or coaching — Logosynthesis training presupposes existing professional formation.
- You need RCT evidence before considering a model — Logosynthesis is grounded in memory reconsolidation theory and clinical practice-based evidence. Formal research initiatives are currently underway in the Logosynthesis field, with findings expected over the next five years.
- You want a model that requires no personal engagement — the Practitioner formation includes personal development work alongside professional skill-building.
Logosynthesis® training as CPD:
BACP, UKCP, and self-certifiable hours.
The Logosynthesis® Basic Seminar delivered by Andes Institute carries 18 CPD hours, self-certifiable for BACP and UKCP portfolios. For UK and Ireland practitioners, this means the entry point to the Practitioner certification pathway satisfies a substantial portion of your annual CPD requirement in a single training.

Is the Basic Seminar alone enough for Practitioner certification?
No. The Basic Seminar is the mandatory entry point, but certification requires the full curriculum: three path seminars, the Live seminar, two supervision units, practice group participation, at least 30 hours of practical application, and the written thesis. The Basic Seminar is the beginning of a formation process, not a standalone qualification.
Can I attend the Practitioner curriculum with different trainers?
Yes. The LIA certification pathway is structured so that candidates can attend seminars with different authorised trainers. Your thesis and final certification are assessed by LIA, not by any individual trainer.
Does Logosynthesis® training count as CPD for BACP and UKCP?
Yes. The Logosynthesis® Basic Seminar at Andes Institute carries 18 CPD hours, self-certifiable for BACP and UKCP portfolios. The Practice Group carries a further 6 hours. Both are consistent with the CPD standards these bodies apply to non-mandatory continuing education.
Do I need to be a psychotherapist to begin?
No. The Practitioner curriculum is open to professionals from counselling, coaching, adult education, medicine, theology, and psychology. Professionals from other fields may also qualify with at least 25 days or 150 hours of experience leading conversations and accompanying people professionally. Contact your trainer or LIA directly if you are uncertain.
How long does the Practitioner certification take?
The timeline depends on seminar availability and your own pace. The curriculum can be completed in approximately 12–18 months if seminars are taken in sequence, though many practitioners take longer. There is no maximum time limit. The thesis and practical application requirements mean the formation needs time to embed.
Can I attend the Basic Seminar without planning to pursue full certification?
Yes — with an important caveat. You may attend the Basic Seminar to learn the model and integrate it into your existing practice without pursuing formal Practitioner certification. However, Logosynthesis® is a protected brand. LIA grants the licence to use the Logosynthesis® name in advertising and professional materials only to certified Practitioners. Without Practitioner certification, you do not hold the legal right to use the Logosynthesis® brand to describe or promote your work. Attending the Basic Seminar does not commit you to the full curriculum — but if you intend to use Logosynthesis® as part of your professional identity, certification is the required path.
