“We touched something… but not quite what’s underneath.“
The client is present.
They speak openly. They reflect.
They share memories, emotions, insights.
And yet—you feel them pull back just as the ground starts to shift.
They explore—but then loop.
They process—but never quite land in what’s essential.
They find relief—but not movement.
You’re doing good work.
They’re grateful for the space.
But something at the core keeps slipping just out of reach.
The more they show up “well,”
the more something essential never quite lands.
It’s over-adaptation with limits.
These clients don’t shut down.
They’re not emotionally flat.
In fact, they’re expressive, self-aware, and deeply grateful for the space.
They go deep—just not all the way.
They share a lot—just not the one thing that might change everything.
They’ve learned to survive by being open, likable, and good at self-reflection.
But just as the real shift begins to stir, they unconsciously pull back.
The result?
Therapy or coaching that feels meaningful but repetitive.
Relief, but not movement.
Connection, but no transformation.
And the practitioner?
Often left working harder and harder to get somewhere that never quite arrives.
A live, experiential training for therapists and coaches who are ready to stop doing the work for their clients—and start sensing what’s quietly missing beneath all that openness.
This is the first of four modules in the Andes Institute’s program:
Staying Through the Slippery: Relational Mastery for Depth-Oriented Practitioners
Clients who share, reflect, and process—but avoid the edge of transformation
The micro-moments where something vital pulls back, despite the appearance of depth
How over-functioning and relational charm mask subtle blocks
The therapist’s or coach’s own urge to “make it work” or stay likable
What happens when you stop performing, rescuing, or subtly pushing forward
You’ll learn to track the emotional tipping point—when real contact could happen, but doesn’t.
And how to stay in that space without pushing or pulling away.
5 live Zoom sessions (2 hours each)
Small group learning to support safety and nuance
Supervision-style case reflection and dialogue
Live demos or structured roleplays with process feedback
Somatic pacing and presence practices
It’s not about helping the client “go deeper,”
or about processing what they aren’t ready to feel.
This is a practice in not rushing what is already trying to emerge.
A training in presence—not pressure.
In recognizing the moment before the mask returns,
and staying steady enough to meet what lives just beneath it.

You’ve been practicing therapy or coaching for at least 3 years
You’ve worked with clients who talk, reflect, and explore within—but never quite shift
You feel yourself working too hard, even when the client seems engaged
You’ve sensed something pulling back just as real contact begins to form
You’re ready to track what’s missing behind the performance of depth
You want to develop more presence—not more tools
You’re just beginning your client work
You’re looking for fast, step-by-step techniques
You prefer action over reflection
You find silence, ambiguity, or emotional slowness uncomfortable
You need certainty more than contact
This space is for practitioners who can feel the difference between talking about change—and being in it.
You already know what this feels like:
The client opens… and something pulls back.
You sense it.
You stay with it.
But part of you still wonders:
Did we just miss something? Again?
This isn’t about going deeper by effort.
It’s about staying with what’s already rising—without rescuing, interpreting, or stepping ahead.
When we learn to be with what is,
to name the subtle retreat,
to hold the edge without pressure—
the client can begin to trust what they’ve always turned away from.
And that’s where real transformation begins.
Not through force.
Through presence.
If you’re ready to meet that moment—
again and again, with skill and steadiness—
this space is for you.
